30 IFTA NOMINATIONS FOR ELEMENT PICTURES AND ELEMENT DISTRIBUTION

Element Pictures and Element Distribution have received an impressive 30 nominations in the upcoming Irish Film and Television Awards. 

Paddy Breathnach’s ROSIE has been nominated for 9 awards, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actress in a Lead Role and Script.  Nick Rowland’s critically acclaimed CALM WITH HORSES received 5 nominations; with a nomination for Best Film, Barry Keoghan nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role Niamh Algar for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.

Element Pictures’ directors Andrew Lowe and Ed Guiney commented “we are delighted with the announcement of 30 nominations for our films and television production. We are also incredibly proud of the nominations for the titles we have acquired through Element Distribution. It has been a fantastic couple of years for Irish film and television, and we are thrilled that these titles are getting a chance to be celebrated. We wish everyone the best of luck at this year’s ceremony!”

Other IFTA nominations for Element Distribution include Dave Tynan’s DUBLIN OLDSCHOOL, receiving 2 nominations with Seána Kerslake and Ian Lloyd Anderson receiving nominations for Actress and Actor in Supporting roles; Shelly Love’s A BUMP ALONG THE WAY which was nominated for 2 awards- Best Film and Bronagh Gallagher for the category for Best Actress in a Lead Role. Andy and Ryan Tohill’s THE DIG received 4 nominations, including Best Film and Moe Dunford receiving a nomination for Best Actor. Maurice Sweeney’s I, DOLOURS received a nomination for the George Morrison Feature Documentary award.

Element Pictures also received 4 nominations in IFTA’s Drama categories for their television production DUBLIN MURDERS, including Sarah Greene receiving a nomination for Best Actress in a Lead Role. CALM WITH HORSES opened to Irish and UK cinemas last weekend to great acclaim thanks to the enormous support of all our exhibitor partners, the media and our wonderful audiences.  Due to circumstances beyond everyone’s control the films release along with all other new releases has been affected by cinema closures.  Element Distribution and Altitude’s thoughts are with all our industry friends and colleagues at this time and we really look forward to supporting our cinema partners once again as soon as it is possible to do so. In the meantime, in order to give audiences at home an opportunity to view CALM WITH HORSES, Element Distribution and Altitude announce we have brought forward the films on-demand release to April 27th. It will be available on a broad range of VOD platforms including iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, Sky Store, Virgin Media, Talk Talk, BT TV, Curzon Home Cinema, BFI Player, Rakuten TV and Volta from 27th April 2020.

ELEMENT DISTRIBUTION ANNOUNCE RELEASE OF ‘BREAKING OUT’ MAY 15TH

This summer will celebrate the remarkable life of Irish singer and musician Fergus O’Farrell with the release of the award-winning feature documentary BREAKING OUT to Irish cinemas on May 15th. Fergus was the charismatic voice of Interference, one of the most compelling and influential bands to emerge from the Irish music scene in the 1990’s.  He was best known for his timeless song “GOLD” which featured in the soundtrack to ONCE, the Oscar winning film and multi-Tony-award-winning musical.  Despite being diagnosed with muscular dystrophy at a young age, through it all, Fergus had to keep singing.  His unique talent and love for life inspired a generation of songwriters, even as his own was slipping away.  This is the story of that voice, and Fergus’ fierce passion and dedication to his art. Winner of Best Irish Documentary at the Galway Film Fleadh 2019 and hailed by Screen Daily as “deeply affecting” and “a privilege to watch”, this intimate journey into the heart and soul of Fergus O’Farrell was filmed over ten years by director Michael McCormack.

Ex-boxer Douglas ‘Arm’ Armstrong (Cosmo Jarvis) is the faithful and violent right-hand-man to the drug-dealing Devers clan, ready to dole out beatings at the whim of his best friend, and the family’s unpredictable protégé, Dympna (Barry Keoghan). Arm’s struggle to find his place in the world has consequences on his relationship with his ex-girlfriend Ursula (Niamh Algar) as she strives to find a better life for herself and their young son Jack.

A BUMP ALONG THE WAY tells the story of fun-loving, 44-year-old single mum Pamela (Bronagh Gallagher) who becomes pregnant following a boozy one-night-stand with a man half her age, much to the shame of her buttoned-up teenage daughter Allegra (Lola Petticrew). As Pamela deals with her unexpected pregnancy and the growing pains of the disgruntled Allegra, the challenges they both face ultimately bring mother and daughter to a better understanding of themselves and each other.

As Pamela deals with her unexpected pregnancy and the growing pains of the disgruntled Allegra, the challenges they both face ultimately bring mother and daughter to a better understanding of themselves and each other.

30 IFTA NOMINATIONS FOR ELEMENT PICTURES AND ELEMENT DISTRIBUTION

Element Pictures and Element Distribution have received an impressive 30 nominations in the upcoming Irish Film and Television Awards. 

Paddy Breathnach’s ROSIE has been nominated for 9 awards, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actress in a Lead Role and Script.  Nick Rowland’s critically acclaimed CALM WITH HORSES received 5 nominations; with a nomination for Best Film, Barry Keoghan nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role Niamh Algar for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.

Element Pictures’ directors Andrew Lowe and Ed Guiney commented “we are delighted with the announcement of 30 nominations for our films and television production. We are also incredibly proud of the nominations for the titles we have acquired through Element Distribution. This summer will celebrate the remarkable life of Irish singer and musician Fergus O’Farrell with the release of the award-winning feature documentary BREAKING OUT to Irish cinemas on May 15th. Fergus was the charismatic voice of Interference, one of the most compelling and influential bands to emerge from the Irish music scene in the 1990’s.  He was best known for his timeless song “GOLD” which featured in the soundtrack to ONCE, the Oscar winning film and multi-Tony-award-winning musical.  Despite being diagnosed with muscular dystrophy at a young age, through it all, Fergus had to keep singing.  His unique talent and love for life inspired a generation of songwriters, even as his own was slipping away.  This is the story of that voice, and Fergus’ fierce passion and dedication to his art. Element Pictures, the UK- and Ireland-based producer behind Oscar winning film The Favourite, has appointed a drama commissioning exec from Channel 4 to oversee development of its TV slate more. Element Pictures is run by Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe, with offices in Dublin, Belfast and London, working across production, distribution, and cinema. Later, they’re both studying at Trinity College, where Marianne is popular and Connell shyer, more uncertain. During their time, they circle one another, straying toward other people but always magnetically drawn back together.

Ex-boxer Douglas ‘Arm’ Armstrong (Cosmo Jarvis) is the faithful and violent right-hand-man to the drug-dealing Devers clan, ready to dole out beatings at the whim of his best friend, and the family’s unpredictable protégé, Dympna (Barry Keoghan). Arm’s struggle to find his place in the world has consequences on his relationship with his ex-girlfriend Ursula (Niamh Algar) as she strives to find a better life for herself and their young son Jack.

A BUMP ALONG THE WAY tells the story of fun-loving, 44-year-old single mum Pamela (Bronagh Gallagher) who becomes pregnant following a boozy one-night-stand with a man half her age, much to the shame of her buttoned-up teenage daughter Allegra (Lola Petticrew). As Pamela deals with her unexpected pregnancy and the growing pains of the disgruntled Allegra, the challenges they both face ultimately bring mother and daughter to a better understanding of themselves and each other.

30 IFTA NOMINATIONS FOR ELEMENT PICTURES AND ELEMENT DISTRIBUTION

Element Pictures and Element Distribution have received an impressive 30 nominations in the upcoming Irish Film and Television Awards. 

Paddy Breathnach’s ROSIE has been nominated for 9 awards, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actress in a Lead Role and Script.  Nick Rowland’s critically acclaimed CALM WITH HORSES received 5 nominations; with a nomination for Best Film, Barry Keoghan nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role Niamh Algar for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.

Element Pictures’ directors Andrew Lowe and Ed Guiney commented “we are delighted with the announcement of 30 nominations for our films and television production. We are also incredibly proud of the nominations for the titles we have acquired through Element Distribution. It has been a fantastic couple of years for Irish film and television, and we are thrilled that these titles are getting a chance to be celebrated. This summer will celebrate the remarkable life of Irish singer and musician Fergus O’Farrell with the release of the award-winning feature documentary BREAKING OUT to Irish cinemas on May 15th. Fergus was the charismatic voice of Interference, one of the most compelling and influential bands to emerge from the Irish music scene in the 1990’s.  He was best known for his timeless song “GOLD” which featured in the soundtrack to ONCE, the Oscar winning film and multi-Tony-award-winning musical.  Despite being diagnosed with muscular dystrophy at a young age, through it all, Fergus had to keep singing.  His unique talent and love for life inspired a generation of songwriters, even as his own was slipping away.  This is the story of that voice, and Fergus’ fierce passion and dedication to his art. Winner of Best Irish Documentary at the Galway Film Fleadh 2019 and hailed by Screen Daily as “deeply affecting” and “a privilege to watch”, this intimate journey into the heart and soul of Fergus O’Farrell was filmed over ten years by director Michael McCormack.

During their time, they circle one another, straying toward other people but always magnetically drawn back together.

Ex-boxer Douglas ‘Arm’ Armstrong (Cosmo Jarvis) is the faithful and violent right-hand-man to the drug-dealing Devers clan, ready to dole out beatings at the whim of his best friend, and the family’s unpredictable protégé, Dympna (Barry Keoghan). Arm’s struggle to find his place in the world has consequences on his relationship with his ex-girlfriend Ursula (Niamh Algar) as she strives to find a better life for herself and their young son Jack.

A BUMP ALONG THE WAY tells the story of fun-loving, 44-year-old single mum Pamela (Bronagh Gallagher) who becomes pregnant following a boozy one-night-stand with a man half her age, much to the shame of her buttoned-up teenage daughter Allegra (Lola Petticrew). As Pamela deals with her unexpected pregnancy and the growing pains of the disgruntled Allegra, the challenges they both face ultimately bring mother and daughter to a better understanding of themselves and each other.

30 IFTA NOMINATIONS FOR ELEMENT PICTURES AND ELEMENT DISTRIBUTION

Element Pictures and Element Distribution have received an impressive 30 nominations in the upcoming Irish Film and Television Awards. 

Paddy Breathnach’s ROSIE has been nominated for 9 awards, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actress in a Lead Role and Script.  Nick Rowland’s critically acclaimed CALM WITH HORSES received 5 nominations; with a nomination for Best Film, Barry Keoghan nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role Niamh Algar for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.

Element Pictures’ directors Andrew Lowe and Ed Guiney commented “we are delighted with the announcement of 30 nominations for our films and television production. We are also incredibly proud of the nominations for the titles we have acquired through Element Distribution. It has been a fantastic couple of years for Irish film and television, and we are thrilled that these titles are getting a chance to be celebrated. ELEMENT DISTRIBUTION ANNOUNCE RELEASE OF ‘BREAKING OUT’ MAY 15TH

This summer will celebrate the remarkable life of Irish singer and musician Fergus O’Farrell with the release of the award-winning feature documentary BREAKING OUT to Irish cinemas on May 15th. Fergus was the charismatic voice of Interference, one of the most compelling and influential bands to emerge from the Irish music scene in the 1990’s.  He was best known for his timeless song “GOLD” which featured in the soundtrack to ONCE, the Oscar winning film and multi-Tony-award-winning musical.  Despite being diagnosed with muscular dystrophy at a young age, through it all, Fergus had to keep singing.  His unique talent and love for life inspired a generation of songwriters, even as his own was slipping away.  This is the story of that voice, and Fergus’ fierce passion and dedication to his art. Winner of Best Irish Documentary at the Galway Film Fleadh 2019 and hailed by Screen Daily as “deeply affecting” and “a privilege to watch”, this intimate journey into the heart and soul of Fergus O’Farrell was filmed over ten years by director Michael McCormack.

ELEMENT DISTRIBUTION ANNOUNCE RELEASE OF ‘BREAKING OUT’ MAY 15TH

This summer will celebrate the remarkable life of Irish singer and musician Fergus O’Farrell with the release of the award-winning feature documentary BREAKING OUT to Irish cinemas on May 15th. Fergus was the charismatic voice of Interference, one of the most compelling and influential bands to emerge from the Irish music scene in the 1990’s.  He was best known for his timeless song “GOLD” which featured in the soundtrack to ONCE, the Oscar winning film and multi-Tony-award-winning musical.  Despite being diagnosed with muscular dystrophy at a young age, through it all, Fergus had to keep singing.  His unique talent and love for life inspired a generation of songwriters, even as his own was slipping away.  This is the story of that voice, and Fergus’ fierce passion and dedication to his art. Winner of Best Irish Documentary at the Galway Film Fleadh 2019 and hailed by Screen Daily as “deeply affecting” and “a privilege to watch”, this intimate journey into the heart and soul of Fergus O’Farrell was filmed over ten years by director Michael McCormack.

During their time, they circle one another, straying toward other people but always magnetically drawn back together.

Ex-boxer Douglas ‘Arm’ Armstrong (Cosmo Jarvis) is the faithful and violent right-hand-man to the drug-dealing Devers clan, ready to dole out beatings at the whim of his best friend, and the family’s unpredictable protégé, Dympna (Barry Keoghan). Arm’s struggle to find his place in the world has consequences on his relationship with his ex-girlfriend Ursula (Niamh Algar) as she strives to find a better life for herself and their young son Jack.

A BUMP ALONG THE WAY tells the story of fun-loving, 44-year-old single mum Pamela (Bronagh Gallagher) who becomes pregnant following a boozy one-night-stand with a man half her age, much to the shame of her buttoned-up teenage daughter Allegra (Lola Petticrew). As Pamela deals with her unexpected pregnancy and the growing pains of the disgruntled Allegra, the challenges they both face ultimately bring mother and daughter to a better understanding of themselves and each other.

30 IFTA NOMINATIONS FOR ELEMENT PICTURES AND ELEMENT DISTRIBUTION

Element Pictures and Element Distribution have received an impressive 30 nominations in the upcoming Irish Film and Television Awards. 

Paddy Breathnach’s ROSIE has been nominated for 9 awards, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actress in a Lead Role and Script.  Nick Rowland’s critically acclaimed CALM WITH HORSES received 5 nominations; with a nomination for Best Film, Barry Keoghan nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role Niamh Algar for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.

Element Pictures’ directors Andrew Lowe and Ed Guiney commented “we are delighted with the announcement of 30 nominations for our films and television production. We are also incredibly proud of the nominations for the titles we have acquired through Element Distribution. It has been a fantastic couple of years for Irish film and television, and we are thrilled that these titles are getting a chance to be celebrated. In the meantime, in order to give audiences at home an opportunity to view CALM WITH HORSES, Element Distribution and Altitude announce we have brought forward the films on-demand release to April 27th. CALM WITH HORSES IRISH & UK DIGITAL RELEASE 27TH APRIL

CALM WITH HORSES opened to Irish and UK cinemas last weekend to great acclaim thanks to the enormous support of all our exhibitor partners, the media and our wonderful audiences.  Due to circumstances beyond everyone’s control the films release along with all other new releases has been affected by cinema closures.  Element Distribution and Altitude’s thoughts are with all our industry friends and colleagues at this time and we really look forward to supporting our cinema partners once again as soon as it is possible to do so. In the meantime, in order to give audiences at home an opportunity to view CALM WITH HORSES, Element Distribution and Altitude announce we have brought forward the films on-demand release to April 27th. It will be available on a broad range of VOD platforms including iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, Sky Store, Virgin Media, Talk Talk, BT TV, Curzon Home Cinema, BFI Player, Rakuten TV and Volta from 27th April 2020.

ELEMENT DISTRIBUTION ANNOUNCE RELEASE OF ‘BREAKING OUT’ MAY 15TH

This summer will celebrate the remarkable life of Irish singer and musician Fergus O’Farrell with the release of the award-winning feature documentary BREAKING OUT to Irish cinemas on May 15th. Fergus was the charismatic voice of Interference, one of the most compelling and influential bands to emerge from the Irish music scene in the 1990’s.  He was best known for his timeless song “GOLD” which featured in the soundtrack to ONCE, the Oscar winning film and multi-Tony-award-winning musical.  Despite being diagnosed with muscular dystrophy at a young age, through it all, Fergus had to keep singing.  His unique talent and love for life inspired a generation of songwriters, even as his own was slipping away.  This is the story of that voice, and Fergus’ fierce passion and dedication to his art. Winner of Best Irish Documentary at the Galway Film Fleadh 2019 and hailed by Screen Daily as “deeply affecting” and “a privilege to watch”, this intimate journey into the heart and soul of Fergus O’Farrell was filmed over ten years by director Michael McCormack.

At school, Connell (Paul Mescal) and Marianne (Daisy Edgar-Jones) pretend not to know each other. But when Connell collects his mother from her job at Marianne’s house, a strange, indelible connection grows, one they’re determined to conceal. Later, they’re both studying at Trinity College, where Marianne is popular and Connell shyer, more uncertain. During their time, they circle one another, straying toward other people but always magnetically drawn back together.

Ex-boxer Douglas ‘Arm’ Armstrong (Cosmo Jarvis) is the faithful and violent right-hand-man to the drug-dealing Devers clan, ready to dole out beatings at the whim of his best friend, and the family’s unpredictable protégé, Dympna (Barry Keoghan). Arm’s struggle to find his place in the world has consequences on his relationship with his ex-girlfriend Ursula (Niamh Algar) as she strives to find a better life for herself and their young son Jack.

A BUMP ALONG THE WAY tells the story of fun-loving, 44-year-old single mum Pamela (Bronagh Gallagher) who becomes pregnant following a boozy one-night-stand with a man half her age, much to the shame of her buttoned-up teenage daughter Allegra (Lola Petticrew). As Pamela deals with her unexpected pregnancy and the growing pains of the disgruntled Allegra, the challenges they both face ultimately bring mother and daughter to a better understanding of themselves and each other.

30 IFTA NOMINATIONS FOR ELEMENT PICTURES AND ELEMENT DISTRIBUTION

Element Pictures and Element Distribution have received an impressive 30 nominations in the upcoming Irish Film and Television Awards. 

Paddy Breathnach’s ROSIE has been nominated for 9 awards, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actress in a Lead Role and Script.  Nick Rowland’s critically acclaimed CALM WITH HORSES received 5 nominations; with a nomination for Best Film, Barry Keoghan nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role Niamh Algar for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.

Element Pictures’ directors Andrew Lowe and Ed Guiney commented “we are delighted with the announcement of 30 nominations for our films and television production. We are also incredibly proud of the nominations for the titles we have acquired through Element Distribution. It has been a fantastic couple of years for Irish film and television, and we are thrilled that these titles are getting a chance to be celebrated. Other IFTA nominations for Element Distribution include Dave Tynan’s DUBLIN OLDSCHOOL, receiving 2 nominations with Seána Kerslake and Ian Lloyd Anderson receiving nominations for Actress and Actor in Supporting roles; Shelly Love’s A BUMP ALONG THE WAY which was nominated for 2 awards- Best Film and Bronagh Gallagher for the category for Best Actress in a Lead Role. Andy and Ryan Tohill’s THE DIG received 4 nominations, including Best Film and Moe Dunford receiving a nomination for Best Actor. Maurice Sweeney’s I, DOLOURS received a nomination for the George Morrison Feature Documentary award.

Element Pictures also received 4 nominations in IFTA’s Drama categories for their television production DUBLIN MURDERS, including Sarah Greene receiving a nomination for Best Actress in a Lead Role.
