Element Pictures is run by Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe, with offices in Dublin, Belfast and London, working across production, distribution, and cinema. Element’s current productions include: THE FAVOURITE, directed by Yorgos Lanthimos and written by Tony McNamara and Deborah Davis, starring Olivia Colman, Emma Stone, and Rachel Weisz, which won 7 BAFTA’s including Outstanding British Film, the Grand Jury Prize, Best Cast Ensemble at the Critic Choice Awards, Best Actress for Olivia Colman at the Academy Awards and Golden Globes®, and it was nominated for 10 Academy Awards® including Best Picture; DISOBEDIENCE, directed by Sebastián Lelio and written by Sebastián Lelio and Rebecca Lenkiewicz, starring Rachel Weisz, Rachel McAdams, and Alessandro Nivola; THE LITTLE STRANGER, a co-production with Potboiler Productions, an adaptation of Sarah Waters novel of the same name, written by Lucinda Coxon and directed by Lenny Abrahamson, starring Domhnall Gleeson, Ruth Wilson, Will Poulter and Charlotte Rampling; ROSIE directed by Paddy Breathnach and written by Roddy Doyle. Recent productions include ROOM, an onscreen adaptation of Emma Donoghue’s award-winning novel directed by Lenny Abrahamson and starring Brie Larson, Joan Allen, Jacob Tremblay and William H. Macy. ROOM was nominated for four Academy Awards® including Best Film, Best Director and Best Screenplay with Larson winning the award for Best Actress. The film was also nominated for three Golden Globes® with Larson winning a Golden Globe® as well as a SAG award. Other recent productions include Yorgos Lanthimos’ THE LOBSTER, starring Colin Farrell and Rachel Weisz, which won the Jury Prize in Cannes and was nominated for an Academy Award® Original Screenplay.
Element’s current television productions include DUBLIN MURDERS, co-produced with Euston films and Veritas for the BBC, and based on the best-selling DUBLIN MURDER SQUAD series by Tana French; NORMAL PEOPLE, based on Sally Rooney’s Man Booker long-listed novel of the same name is green lit with the BBC for production next year, with Sally Rooney adapting and Lenny Abrahamson directing.
Element Distribution also handles StudioCanal’s slate and the Royal Opera House live cinema season in Ireland as well as direct acquisitions.
Additionally, Element Cinema operates an online video on demand platform, Volta.ie and also runs and operates the Light House Cinema in Dublin, Pálás Cinema in Galway and the Road House Cinema.
