Monday March 14, 2016 – Element Pictures’ ROOM is up for an incredible eight awards at the 2016 IFTA’s including best film, best director and best script. Brie Larson and Jacob Tremblay are also nominated for best international actress and best international actor respectively. Other nominations for ROOM include original music, editing & cinematography.

ROOM also swept the boards at the Canadian Screen Awards last night, as it nabbed nine prizes on the night including best film, director for Lenny Abrahamson, adapted screenplay for Emma Donoghue, best actor for Jacob Tremblay, actress for Brie Larson and best supporting actress for Joan Allen. ROOM also won awards in the art direction and make-up categories.

ROOM Producer Ed Guiney commented “We are delighted with these nominations and wins, it is very gratifying to get this recognition at home and also in Canada where we filmed ROOM for the amazing work of Lenny, Emma and our brilliant cast and crew.”

Other IFTA nominations for Element Pictures Distribution include Colin Farrell’s performance as ‘David’ in THE LOBSTER and also OLDER THAN IRELAND’S nomination for best feature documentary.

The 2016 IFTA awards will take place on April 9th in The Mansion House in Dublin.
