Element Pictures Distribution is delighted to announce the On-Demand release of Meetings With Ivor.  The film is now available to stream or download in Ireland from Volta, iTunes and Virgin Media.

Ground-breaking psychiatrist Ivor Browne has been a central figure in Irish mental health for many decades. His pioneering and often controversial work on behalf of the many who cannot speak for themselves is well-known. Alan Gilsenan’s highly-acclaimed film, produced by Tomás Hardiman, captures the essence of this extraordinary man whose unique attributes offer real hope in an increasingly bewildering world.

The film includes contributions from a host of familiar Irish faces including; comedian Tommy Tiernan, playwright Tom Murphy, singer Mary Coughlan, and authors Brendan Kelly, Sebastian Barry and Nell McCafferty. The piper, Ronan Browne, son of Ivor, composed the haunting musical score.

Hailed by The Sunday Independent as “one of the most synaptically arresting horror films in some time” WITHOUT NAME tells the story of Eric (Alan McKenna), a land surveyor hired by a private contractor to assess an isolated woodland location.  Leaving behind his wife and child, Eric is joined in the remote countryside by a younger female research assistant (Niamh Algar) with whom he shares a complicated history.  Beguiled by the forest, the pair go about their work all the while sensing an ominous presence lurking amongst the trees.

Are there really external and sinister elements at play here or is Eric becoming a prisoner of his own thoughts, in this place Without Name?

OLDER THAN IRELAND – A BOX- OFFICE SUCCESS WILL HIT SHELVES ON NOVEMBER 20

Element Picture’s Distribution are delighted with their continued success in releasing Irish Documentaries. Their latest feat is with Alex Fegan’s much loved OLDER THAN IRELAND which has currently grossed  over  €155k at the Irish box-office and still continues to play strong into week 8 of release .The positive word of mouth and glowing reviews has propelled the film to play in over 35 cinemas and venues since release, reaching audiences that would previously not get the opportunity to see this genre of film.

 

To date, Element Pictures Distribution have released the top 3 grossing  Irish Documentaries in Ireland with Ken Wardrop’s much acclaimed His & Hers still the No. 1 Irish Documentary with a total box-office of €286000.  This is now followed by OLDER THAN IRELAND and then Joel Conroy’s powerful surfing documentary Waveriders which EPD released in 2009 which grossed €110000. Such strong numbers highlight that documentaries can really compete with feature films with significant box-office potential.

VOLTA.IE ANNOUNCES SECOND ANNUAL STREAMS: THE EUROPEAN ONLINE FILM FESTIVAL

Volta, the video on demand platform for Irish and international independent films, today announced the programme for the 2nd annual STREAMS: The European Online Film Festival, which will run from November 15th 2013 to December 15th 2013 on www.volta.ie.

The online film festival will run simultaneously on nine Video on Demand platforms across Europe (all members of EuroVOD) and will give Irish audiences exclusive access to seventeen recent European feature films and documentaries that haven’t yet premiered outside of their national territories. All foreign language films have English subtitles and users can opt to stream films individually for €2.99 or buy a festival pass for €24.99 to enjoy all the films at a lower cost.

Highlights include Mama Illegal, an Austrian documentary which follows three Moldovan women over seven years who have left their families to work illegally as cleaners in Austria. Their struggles reflect those of illegal and trafficked women everywhere, whose dreams of a brighter future are often not realised. Gourmands nationwide will love Entre Les Bras, a French documentary on three Michelin starred chef Michel Bras and his decision to hand over his restaurant to his son, Sebastien, who has been working with him for 15 years. This is a moving and joyful portrait of an outstanding family who have devoted themselves to Haute Cuisine for three generations.

Audiences across Europe will now also have the chance to see Irish films Silence andTim Robinson: Connemara, both directed by Pat Collins, which are the official Irish entries for the festival. STREAMS is the first festival of its kind in Europe and titles will be available to stream on volta.ie for a month.
