Element Pictures is delighted with the news today that Lenny Abrahamson’sWHAT RICHARD DID has received an incredible ten nominations for this year’s Irish Film and Television (IFTA) awards. This follows on from the announcement earlier this month that WHAT RICHARD DID was long-listed in three categories for the London Evening Standard British Film Awards (Film of The Year, Best Screen Play, Most Promising Newcomer).
WHAT RICHARD DID has been nominated by IFTA members in the following categories:
- Best Film: Ed Guiney, Andrew Lowe
- Best Script: Malcolm Campbell
- Best Director: Lenny Abrahamson
- Best Actor: Jack Reynor
- Best Actress: Roisin Murphy
- Best Supporting Actress: Gabrielle Reidy
- Director of Photography: David Grennan
- Editing Film/Drama: Nathan Nugent
- Original Score: Stephen Rennicks
- Sound Film/Drama: Paddy Hanlon, Steve Fanagan, Niall Brady
Director, Lenny Abrahamson said today that “It’s a really great conclusion to the Irish life of the film to have it nominated in so many categories. It’s a real testament to the quality of the people I worked with on this film“.
Producer Ed Guiney got the great news about the IFTA nominations while in the desert of New Mexico where shooting is underway on Lenny’s new film FRANKwith Domhnall Gleeson, Michael Fassbender and Maggie Gyllenhaal “WHAT RICHARD DID is our third collaboration with Lenny and we are so pleased that his brilliant work as well as Malcolm Campbell’s great script and our wonderful cast and crew have been recognized in this way.”
WHAT RICHARD DID was the best performing Irish film in the Irish box-office in 2012 and received huge praise from critics and audiences alike both here and internationally.
