ZONAD will receive its International premiere at the prestigious Tribeca Film Festival, which runs from April 21st- May 2nd 2010. The Tribeca Film Festival was founded in 2001 by Robert De Niro following the attacks on the World Trade Center to spur the economic and cultural revitalization of lower Manhattan through an annual celebration of film.
ZONAD is a gleefully unhinged comedy from Irish writer/directors John Carney and Kieran Carney about the adventures of an (alleged) visitor from space (played by Simon Delaney) in a small Irish town.
ZONAD will screen in the Cinemania section of the festival’s programme, which offers exciting & eclectic films that push the boundaries of creativity & genre.
Speaking on ZONAD’S selection, Producer Ed Guiney said ‘Tribeca has always been our number one choice to launch the wonderfully zany ZONAD on the world.’
ZONAD is written and directed by John Carney and Kieran Carney and produced by Ed Guiney, Andrew Lowe and John McDonnell. It is an Element Pictures production in association with the Irish Film Board/Bord Scannan Na hEireann and RTE. The film will be handled in North American by Cinetic Media and international sales by The Works.
ZONAD will be released across Irish cinemas on March 17th by Element Pictures Distribution.
